Not sure if this is the exact right section to post this in. In my introduction thread I mentioned Paddlefishing. I just got back from this years trip.

Wasn't as wet or soggy as last year and didn't fish as long. Last years fish was 82 Pounds and this years wasn't quite as big, but still a respectable 65 pounds.

The original person who posted about these, posted in the Sci-Fi section. Talked to a few people through PM's. They do have 4 titles right now, Thriller/Suspense/Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror. I wanted to post in the general book section as I want to discuss them with a few folks and I don't think everyone saw the thread posted :) I really got into these hard, not sure why, but I really like the stories so far. I've read all of them now and just finishing up Grit City Issue 5. Has anyone else tried them and want to talk about them? I am pretty eager lol.

The original thread can be found clubnook.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4303&page=2&p=81795#post81795
*Edit* sorry for the nasty url, put I can't post em till I have 15 posts lol, so just copy paste :)

I am going on a trip in a couple of weeks and would like to take this tiny notebook computer with me. My husband bought it and always had problems with it but if I could get it to work properly I would like to use it.

Product HP Mini 1000

OS Windows XP

Error Message: Dialog box "Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install."

Prior: Removed some unused programs from Control Panel::Add or Remove Programs. There were problems--computer would freeze and I would have to go to Task Manager to end and then try again. Task manager now, however, does not show anything running. I have already tried restoring to an earlier time.

Problem: Unable to download new programs (ex. Calibre & AVG antivirus) or remove unwanted or rarely used programs.

I also tried going to All Programs: Accessories: Windows Explorer: My Computer: Local Disk (c:); Program Files
For example: Roxio Back on Track--This program doesn't even show up in Control Panel--Add or Remove programs, so I thought it was removed. However if I go to Program Files (above) there are still files that were not deleted and I am unable to delete them (most are .dll files.)

Can anyone help? I am good at following directions. Thanks

How to Root GlowLight Nook Touch with TinyNoot (Video)

Nathan from the-ebook-reader.com posted a nice how-to instruction with video on rooting your GlowLight Nook Touch.
http://blog.the-ebook-reader.com/201...inynoot-video/

Check out the video to get a feel for what a rooted GlowLight looks like.

I'm hoping to do this tomorrow so can't vouch for it yet but basically it involves backing up your nook, then creating a ClockWorkMod (CWM) bootable mSD card which you boot in your GlowLight Nook to do the actual rooting. He says in the video that Google apps are not included without additional effort but these instructions do give the ability to install external apps like Amazon appstore, Opera web browser, etc. I personally am looking to install the Overdrive app so I can checkout library books directly from the nook.

I'll post results this weekend and please, DO THE BACKUP STEP FIRST BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS. You absolutely want the ability to reset back to normal if something goes wrong.

by Laird Barron

Overview

Laird Barron has emerged as one of the strongest voices in modern horror and dark fantasy fiction, building on the eldritch tradition pioneered by writers such as H. P. Lovecraft, Peter Straub, and Thomas Ligotti. His stories have garnered critical acclaim and been reprinted in numerous year's best anthologies and nominated for multiple awards, including the Crawford, International Horror Guild, Shirley Jackson, Theodore Sturgeon, and World Fantasy Awards. His debut collection, The Imago Sequence and Other Stories, was the inaugural winner of the Shirley Jackson Award.

He returns with his second collection, Occultation. Pitting ordinary men and women against a carnivorous, chaotic cosmos, Occultation's eight tales of terror (two never before published) include the Theodore Sturgeon and Shirley Jackson Award-nominated story "The Forest" and Shirley Jackson Award nominee "The Lagerstatte." Featuring an introduction by Michael Shea, Occultation brings more of the spine-chillingly sublime cosmic horror Laird Barron's fans have come to expect.

Question: Why does ClubNOOK exist? Is it to provide a friendly place where people can gab about their personal lives? Yes. Is it for sharing recipes and other various things that we like? Sure. And I'm sure we can come up with many other things that make ClubNOOK a really unique place for people to come. But what is at the core of our existence?

I'm sure you know what I'm getting at. ClubNOOK exists as an online community of people who love to read books. That is what we are all about, and that is what we have to focus on as we move further into our second year.

We are going to be putting the entire focus of the club towards energizing our book clubs, getting an authors corner launched where we will invite authors to discuss their books, and many other things that will highlight more than ever why we exist and why WE LOVE READING.

We invite you to bring us your suggestions on how to make this club better as a reading community.

ClubNOOK has a bright future, and I speak for the entire staff when I say we couldn't exist without you, and we are incredibly thankful on a daily basis for your participation.

Yep, I'm working on yet another project for ClubNOOK! This time I'm working with some people to produce a nice video for our club that will hopefully define who we are and draw new members. This video will be something like the one below:

The above video was made by a school teacher in Wisconsin who asked me to build her a website based on her dream of OneWorld -- One Classroom. I jumped at the opportunity!

Well, the artist in this video drawing the pictures, as well as the teacher, have both volunteered to do a similar video for our club. Isn't that exciting!!!!

Anyway, I need as many ideas as you can give me on what you think this video should consist of. What elements should it have? What should be the theme? What main message should it be giving?

We need to come up with a complete script for our new video.

Any and all suggestions would be great.

Just thought I'd share this:

While reading through the ClubNook forums, one of the in-thread ads that appeared for me was for the "Book Club Show", which as explained on their homepage is a show, still in the planning stages, that "will be a compelling TV series about books that’s smart, provocative and refreshing." It looks like it will air on PBS - at least that's my assumption given their statement that it will appear on "public television".

They're currently offering surveys to get a feel for how people interact with book clubs/TV/digital media. And apparently they are still holding casting calls for potential talent.

I wonder if they're hoping to fill the vacuum left when Oprah and her book club finished it's on-air run?

Times of Trial: an End Times novel (Book 2), which is my 7th novel overall.

This novel is a parallel novel to Times of Trouble.

A preacher and his family, the Tyler’s, have a church that is dying in Arizona, and they take care of the remaining seniors who are members, including the ones in nursing homes or in hospice. The remaining family, the White’s, leave the same church and head to Wyoming to live in a community that was originally started by Doomsday Preppers back in the early 2000′s so they can attempt to escape the increasing persecution of Christians.

Meanwhile, President Collins orders the activation of Camps across the country that will house believers who he thinks are a threat to his rule, while money for the project is supplied by his mentor, Michael Evans. The Tyler’s end up with others in a Camp in Arizona, while the White’s and the community they live in get attacked by the government. Other events happen that also occur in Times of Trouble, while Evans continues to manipulate events as the Rapture takes the Christians, and he gains ultimate power.
